Meet the Look Left Team: John Masserini, Senior Digital Strategist

Get to know Look Left's Senior Digital Strategist John Masserini.

Great content is half the battle. As we often say at Look Left, you have to get the art and algebra of content to ensure that well-written pieces get seen by the right people. That’s where senior digital strategist John Masserini’s superpowers shine.

John gets the guts of SEO and paid advertising and helps our clients make the most of their content. And he understands B2B tech media better than anyone. He also loves his pets, the Miami Dolphins and getting to as many live music events as possible.

Get to know John and the rest of the Look Left Team in our new Meet the Team Q&A:

Prior to working here, how did you discover your passion for marketing/content development/PR/SEO?

Look Left is actually the first company I have worked for in the wide world of marketing. I started out as a marketing coordinator and have dipped my toes into all different aspects of B2B marketing —  from media relations to press releases to content development, and most recently, SEO/digital marketing. Having the ability to explore the different parts of the marketing funnel allowed me to find my niche and develop specialties in areas that I am passionate about.

The realization I have come to is that my passion lies in analyzing and strategizing based on analytics, which is why I have started to focus more on digital marketing and SEO over the last few years. SEO allows me to see exactly what is and isn’t working, determine why based on analytics, and strategize how to move forward in order to improve. It has been incredibly fun to learn and extremely rewarding when seeing client numbers improve.

What would you like to learn more about while at LL?

Over the last year, the sheer volume of AI tools that are available to marketers have expanded quickly. I think digital marketers are starting to learn how to add them into their tech stack, enabling them to help organizations create valuable, high-quality content that can be seen by the masses. On top of that, top search engines are adding AI to make it easier for the users to find what they're looking for even quicker. My goal is to learn more about these tools and integrations so they can be folded into an all-in-one digital strategy for SEO and content.

What is your favorite part of the LL work environment? What do you find most fulfilling about working here?

My favorite part of working at Look Left is just how truly knowledgeable everyone on the team is and how, no matter how much experience you have, they are always willing to help and trust in your abilities.

I joined Look Left with very little knowledge of B2B marketing and was welcomed with open arms. There was a lot that I didn’t know, but everyone on the team made me feel welcomed and like I could go to them at any time with any questions. Even five years in, with a team twice the size of what it was when I joined, I still feel like when there is something I’m unsure about, I can go to anyone and they are more than happy to teach or help me.

If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

For me, there are two different trips on the top of my bucket list—a long trip to Japan with at least a week in and around Tokyo, and a trip to France during the mountain stages of the Tour de France.

I want to visit Japan because everything I see and know about it seems like an incredible place to visit—there are so many things to see and so much food to try, I barely even know where to start.

For the France trip, I want to see a mountain stage of the Tour de France, then spend the rest of my time exploring the Alps and traveling around that area. An old friend got me hooked on the Tour de France at summer camp many years ago, and now it’s a tradition — my brother and I watch every year, so I think it would be great to be able to see it in person!

Do you have any pets? Tell us about them!

I live with two pets! A 10-year-old black cat named Vax and a 2-year-old Goldendoodle puppy named Ruby. Both of them are very lovable and enjoy cuddling, which is easy enough for Vax to do, but Ruby still thinks she’s a lap dog even though she’s over 60 pounds!
